Virtual Coaching- What is it?
It all began with an idea. Some physical therapist, somewhere, thought, “What if rehab could be different? What if it wasn’t dictated by insurance and corporate clinics and zip codes and time constraints? What if it could be better?”
And here we are! Virtual coaching is changing the game of rehab and fitness. Want to know more about it? Let’s break it down below.
Let’s go ahead and address the one question you’ve likely already thought of- no, I don’t have to do hands on work to help you! Manual therapy (the hands on work that a therapist does) is only one tool in our tool box. And it’s a very small tool, at that. Hands on work is usually more of a feel good rather than a do good kind of thing when it comes to long term results. When doing manual therapy in clinic, I always kept it short and quick and made sure to follow it up with more long-term techniques, such as movement. And the online rehab model allows me to really maximize the other tools in my tool box! Why?
We aren’t dictated by insurance. This means that if you tell me that your back hurts, then I can look at your low back, your neck, hips, knees, ankles, etc. without an insurance company denying my assessment. We know that absolutely nothing in the body works in isolation, so why would we assess and treat in isolation?! I also can program what I think is best for you and your body, not best for your insurance plan. I know that the low back is affected by the upper back and neck, for example, because it’s all a part of your spine. So shouldn’t I be able to work on those for you, too? Of course!
I also get to support you every single step of the way. You technically can message me via the app that we’ll use 24/7. Of course, I set work schedule boundaries, as we all should, but you don’t have to wait until your next visit with me to chat. You can send me a question or comment any time you want!

You may not even have any issues that you’re aware of and are just wanting to get fitter, stronger, and healthier but don’t know how. That’s where I come in! We blend rehab and fitness, and I, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, get to help you do that.
Who is this NOT for? Anyone with a super fresh injury- i.e. you just “threw your back out” yesterday, tore your ACL last week, or started having random numbness and tingling down your legs last night. This isn’t an acute care type of situation since those super fresh injuries do best with a hands on, in person approach. And this is not for immediate post-op rehab!
